Mr. Jeconia Kapitako

A Polytechnic of Namibia’s student who recently completed his Bachelor of Information Technology (IT) in Software Engineering recently made a significant mark at one of Poly’s international partners in Germany, the University of Applied Sciences Wolfenbuettel (UASW).

Jeconia Kapitako, was initially accorded a full scholarship to complete his Bachelors studies at UASW after he attended an Autonomous Smart Vehicles summer school last year at that university – where he, through his programming skills, enabled autonomous smart vehicles to drive on their own.  He received a winner’s certificate in the said project.

During his completion of his studies at that university, Kapitako was involved in a very ambitious project of extending and improving a web-based interactive platform, LON-CAPA, to incorporate the functionality of creating PDF forms from homework problems and uploading filled-in forms for automated grading. Since documents saved in a PDF formant cannot easily be manipulated or edited, his extension will enable students and lecturers to edit texts in the PDF document, thereby enabling lecturers to send questions to students in the PDF format and students will be able to type in answers.
